Origin
This initiative was the result of the synergy between the economic development and business corporations of five communities, who experimented with the pooling of their resources to harvest and market wood, develop new products, conclude business partnerships, all for the purpose of consolidating their respective operations in progress or initiate new company projects.
The Network was set up against a background of sustainable forestry pratices, taking into account the economical, environmental, social and institutional, for the well-being of First Nations communities.
The concept of the Network was put in place by the Société de développement économique Ilnu of Mashteuiatsh with the support of Natural Resources Canada and Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada
